Are you an experienced Building Surveyor, Asset Surveyor or Property Surveyor looking for a temporary opportunity in Ashford, Kent?
We are recruiting for a Commercial Asset Surveyor / Building Surveyor to join a well-established public sector organisation on an initial 3-month temporary assignment.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving building inspections, condition surveys, defect identification, property maintenance and contractor management across a diverse commercial property and asset portfolio.
The Role
As the Building Surveyor, you will:
- Carry out building inspections, condition surveys and statutory inspections
- Identify building defects and recommend appropriate repairs and remedial works
- Prepare condition reports including priorities, timescales and indicative costs
- Coordinate planned and reactive property maintenance
- Prepare specifications and obtain contractor quotations
- Supervise contractors and inspect completed works
- Liaise with tenants and coordinate repair works
- Support statutory compliance including asbestos, fire safety and legionella
- Ensure works comply with Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations 2015
- Undertake measured surveys and produce or update AutoCAD drawings
- Maintain accurate property and asset records
- Carry out site visits across the local area
About You
To be considered for this Building Surveyor / Commercial Asset Surveyor position, you will ideally have:
- HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent, or proven equivalent experience
- Experience carrying out building inspections and condition surveys
- Good knowledge of building pathology, defects and methods of repair
- Experience coordinating planned and reactive maintenance
- Experience supervising and instructing contractors
- Knowledge of asbestos management and statutory property compliance
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant Health & Safety legislation
- AutoCAD experience, ideally Level 2
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
A degree or professional surveying qualification such as RICS, along with BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings, would be advantageous but is not essential.
