CNC Turner - Precision Engineering

  • Salary Guide: £33,000 - £41,000 PA, Depending on Experience (£17 to £21p/hr)
  • Overtime Rate - Excellent earning potential with hours available
  • Standard work week of 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1600 hours
  • Location: South Woodham Ferrers, Essex
  • Position Details: Permanent, full-time position, Immediate start available

We are seeking an experienced CNC Turner to join our client's well-established precision engineering business. The successful candidate will be capable of programming at the machine using FANUC and Siemens controls, as well as setting and operating CNC lathes to manufacture high-quality components from engineering drawings and to tight tolerances.

The role involves a varied workload, ranging from 1-Off and small-batch production through to larger batch runs of up to 500-Offs.

Responsibilities:

  • Set, operate and program CNC Lathes to produce precision components as per engineering specifications.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to determine machining operations and set up requirements.
  • Utilise measuring equipment like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure the accuracy and quality of machined components.
  • Inspect finished components to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the machining process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper maintenance and servicing of machines.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimise production processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Turner.
  • Proficient in setting up, operating, and programming CNC lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring equipment and effective usage.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to inspect components for quality and accuracy.
  • City & Guilds qualifications or apprenticeship in Engineering would be advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
