🚮 Seasonal Coastal Cleansing Operative - Thanet
📍 Location: Thanet
⏰ Hours: Shift patterns across Sunday to Saturday ~ Shift times 6:00 - 14:00 & 12:00 - 20:00
💰 Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour *enhanced rates for bank holidays
📆 Contract Duration: Seasonal (July- September)
We are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to help keep Thanet clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and businesses.
🧹 Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Coastal Cleansing: Litter picking, emptying bins, sweeping stairs, weeding, and maintaining beaches, car parks, and promenades.
✔️ Independent & Team Work: Work alone or as part of a team to uphold cleanliness standards.
✔️ Shift Work: Adapt to shift patterns, including weekends, to meet service demands.
✔️ Equipment Use: Operate brooms, litter pickers, and powered cleaning tools.
✔️ Health & Safety: Follow safety procedures, conduct daily equipment checks, and report defects.
✔️ Public Engagement: Interact with the public professionally while representing the council.
✔️ Environmental Awareness: Follow best practices and environmental risk assessments.
✔️ Record Keeping: Complete time sheets, log tasks, and report any service issues.
✔️ Additional Duties: Support other tasks as required within the role's scope.
📌 Requirements:
🔹 Must be 18 years old or over
🔹 Ability to work independently and use initiative.
🔹 A smart phone for communication.
🔹 Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
🔹 Basic verbal and written communication skills for record-keeping.
🔹 Understanding of health & safety procedures.
🔹 Ability to use a tablet or similar device for reporting tasks.
🔹 Flexibility to adapt to different working patterns and locations.
🌟 Desirable (Not Essential):
➕ Knowledge of the Thanet District.
➕ Full UK driving licence.
➕ Experience in a public service role.
➕ Familiarity with waste collection vehicles.
