Commissioning Engineer

Location: Speke, Liverpool

Salary: £55,000 per annum

Type: Permanent

HRGO Recruitment is working with an established engineering and systems integration business to recruit a Commissioning Engineer.

You'll work on specialist telemetry and metering systems supporting the UK gas network, including gas metering upgrades, telemetry projects and biomethane injection schemes.

This is a hands-on role covering pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning and final handover, with a mix of workshop, site and customer-facing work.

Key Responsibilities

    • Support commissioning planning and project delivery.
    • Carry out FAT, SAT, dry testing and wet commissioning.
    • Prepare equipment and systems for testing and commissioning.
    • Work at the Liverpool facility and customer sites across the UK.
    • Maintain accurate test records, reports and handover documentation.
    • Assist with defect resolution and project close-out.
    • Ensure installations meet safety, technical and regulatory requirements.
    • Liaise with internal teams, clients and supply chain partners.

Promote safe working practices across all activities.

Skills & Experience

    • 2+ years' experience in a technical gas industry role.
    • Experience with telemetry and metering systems is desirable.
    • Knowledge of flow meters, ultrasonic meters and flow computers is advantageous.
    • Experience with PLCs, such as Siemens or OPTO.
    • Knowledge of remote I/O systems, such as Pepperl+Fuchs, is beneficial.
    • 18th Edition, electrical inspection & testing and CompEx.
    • SHEA Gas and/or IOSH Managing Safely would be advantageous.
    • HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
    • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, communication and organisational skills.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Working Arrangements

Based in Speke, Liverpool, with hybrid working available. The role involves regular travel to customer sites across the UK, including occasional short notice travel and working away from home.
