HR GO Recruitment is recruiting for enthusiastic and friendly Customer Service Assistants to join the Visitor Experience Team at one of York's most popular heritage attractions for the busy summer season.

Working Hours

  • Part-time position
  • Typically 3 to 5 shifts per week
  • Average shift length of 5 hours
  • Day shifts between the hours of 9:15am and 5:00pm
  • Weekend working required on a rota basis
  • Occasional evening work may be required to support events

The Role

As a Customer Service Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring every visitor enjoys a safe, welcoming and memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming visitors and providing a friendly, professional first impression
  • Assisting with visitor enquiries, ticketing, events and activities
  • Supporting visitor experiences throughout the attraction
  • Managing visitor flow and queues during busy periods
  • Promoting visitor services, events and experiences
  • Delivering exceptional customer service
  • Supporting visitors with accessibility requirements and individual needs
  • Maintaining clean, safe and accessible public areas
  • Identifying and reporting health, safety or security concerns
  • Assisting with emergency procedures and evacuations when required
  • Providing first aid support following training
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in a customer-facing role
  • Friendly, confident and approachable
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service
  • Comfortable engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Positive, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure
  • A strong team player with a flexible approach
  • Aware of health and safety responsibilities
  • Comfortable using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Experience

  • Hospitality, tourism, retail, leisure or visitor attraction experience
  • Till or ticketing system experience
  • Additional language skills
  • An interest in history, heritage, architecture or tourism
  • Experience supporting events or public-facing activities

Please Note

This role will involve:

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Working both indoors and outdoors
  • Accessing all public areas of the attraction, including heights and confined spaces
  • Participating in duties involving climbing steps (full training provided)
  • Working during weekends and peak visitor periods
