Field Service Engineer - Rotherham - UK Travel - Apply Now!

HRGO Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established international engineering organisation for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their UK Service Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-disciplined engineer with strong electrical, electronic and mechanical fault-finding experience to join a specialist technical business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing, calibrating and repairing specialist metallographic and material-testing equipment. The role will involve regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK and ROI, with workshop support in Rotherham and occasional international travel.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Travel regularly to customer sites throughout the UK and ROI
  • Install and commission specialist equipment
  • Service, calibrate and repair specialist equipment
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Complete equipment upgrades, retrofits and modifications
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
  • Fault-find across electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Provide technical support to customers by telephone and email
  • Provide professional technical support and advice on-site
  • Maintain strong and professional customer relationships
  • Complete accurate service records and field service reports
  • Use the company ERP system to maintain customer and service information
  • Maintain appropriate spare parts, tools and equipment
  • Liaise with the Sales Team regarding customer requirements
  • Identify opportunities for maintenance, calibration and equipment upgrades
  • Work closely with the Service Administrator to coordinate customer visits
  • Support new product development and technical projects
  • Work collaboratively with the UK and wider international Service Teams
  • Participate in technical training and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Travel internationally when required for training and company activities

About You:

  • Proven experience working as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical engineering role - essential
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical, electronic, mechanical or related engineering
  • Previous experience working with electromechanical equipment
  • Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills
  • Good mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics is desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong practical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
  • Experience with calibration, preventative maintenance, installation or commissioning is advantageous
  • Good computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office
  • ERP, database or service-management system experience is desirable
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Professional and confident when dealing with customers
  • Flexible and willing to travel extensively throughout the UK
  • Full UK driving licence - essential
