Salary: £32,000 - £42,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + discretionary annual bonus
Work Type: Permanent Position
Hours: Approximately 40-45 hours per week with flexibility required during busy periods

HRGO Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable Groundsman to join a prestigious private family estate in Somerset.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a beautiful 320-acre private estate, maintaining approximately 25 acres of formal gardens and grounds. The successful candidate will become part of a small, close-knit team and play a key role in ensuring the estate is maintained to the highest standards.

The client is looking for someone who is trustworthy, hardworking, and takes pride in their work. Previous private estate experience would be advantageous; however, candidates with strong grounds maintenance experience and the right attitude will also be considered, as training can be provided for the right individual.

Duties:

  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting and general grounds maintenance
  • Maintaining formal gardens, lawns and landscaped areas
  • Operating and maintaining grounds maintenance machinery and equipment
  • Carrying out general estate repairs and handyman duties
  • Assisting with the maintenance of fences, gates and estate infrastructure
  • Seasonal estate maintenance including leaf clearance and vegetation management
  • Feeding and caring for estate animals including goats, pigs and chickens
  • Monitoring animal welfare and maintaining bedding areas
  • Supporting wider estate projects as required
  • Ensuring the estate is presented to a high standard at all times

Requirements:

  • Previous grounds maintenance, landscaping or estate maintenance experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Practical maintenance and DIY skills
  • Reliable, trustworthy and professional approach
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Animal care experience would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Private estate experience would be beneficial but is not essential
