Job title: HR Advisor
Contract: Interim, 3-4 months
Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Location: Stockton-on-Tees 1 day per week, remote.
Salary: up to £250 per day, DOE.
HRGO is recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor to provide hands-on, operational Employee Relations (ER) support to managers across the North East. This is an advisory role requiring someone who can independently manage complex ER matters, ensuring full compliance with UK employment legislation, internal policies and best practice. The post is primarily remote, with occasional travel to operational sites/meetings across the North East. Flexibility to support meetings later in the afternoon/early evening is also required.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise managers on UK employment law and internal company policies.
- Manage complex ER casework end-to-end, including: Disciplinary, Grievance, Capability, & Absence management.
- Support and guide investigations, including reviewing evidence and preparing investigation reports.
- Coach managers through formal processes/meetings and ensure procedural compliance.
- Draft P&P documentation and correspondence, including invitation letters, outcome letters and supporting paperwork.
- Support long-term sickness processes, including occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
- Advise on probation, performance management and conduct matters.
- Maintain accurate, timely case management records in line with internal processes and document management requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the wider People & Practices team to ensure consistent, commercially focused advice.
- Identify and flag potential employment risks, escalating significant issues to the Head of People & Practices where appropriate.
Skills & Qualifications Required
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent experience) or higher.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a P&P/HR Advisory or Employee Relations role.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK Employment Law.
- Proven experience managing complex ER cases from start to finish.
- Experience supporting formal consultation processes.
- Excellent written communication skills (able to produce high-quality ER documentation).
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coach and influence managers.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
Desirable
- Experience working in a unionised environment.
- Background in facilities management, transport, cleaning, or other multi-site operational settings.
- Experience supporting remote operational teams across multiple locations.
