HRGO Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established local business for a full-time, permanent Maintenance Operative.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a practical maintenance background who enjoys variety and takes pride in keeping a site safe, secure and well maintained. You will be responsible for general maintenance, repairs and the day-to-day upkeep of the site, while supporting the wider team with operational duties when required.
Salary: £28,000 per year
Hours: Rotating 4 on 4 off / 5 on 3 off shift pattern, including weekends

The Role
As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the site. Your duties will include:

Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance

Diagnosing faults and completing repairs
-
General building maintenance and repairs
-
Basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry work
-
Painting and decorating
-
Maintaining fencing, gates, drainage and external areas
-
Using hand and power tools safely
-
Carrying out regular site inspections
-
Identifying and reporting maintenance issues
-
Maintaining accurate maintenance and inspection records
-
Supporting contractors and site inductions
-
Assisting with routine compliance and safety checks
-
Supporting site opening and closing procedures
-
Assisting with access control and security checks
-
Carrying out routine CCTV and site security checks
-
Responding to maintenance issues that could affect site safety or security
-
Supporting the wider team with general operational duties when required
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks.
You will ideally have experience in maintenance, facilities, property maintenance, building maintenance or a similar hands-on environment.
You will need:

Previous maintenance or facilities experience

Good general repair and practical skills

Experience using hand and power tools

Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge

Carpentry and general building maintenance experience

Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
-
A good understanding of health and safety
-
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

A proactive and reliable approach

Good communication skills
-
A full UK driving licence
-
Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends
Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent would be advantageous but are not essential.
Previous experience within facilities, property maintenance, industrial, commercial or secure-site environments would also be beneficial.
