Purchase Ledger Assistant

Location: Winsford

Job Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: £25,000-£30,000 depending on experience

HRGO Recruitment are recruiting a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join a busy finance team.

Working as part of the wider finance function, you will help ensure supplier accounts are accurately maintained, invoices and payments are processed efficiently, and any queries or discrepancies are resolved promptly.

The role:

    • Maintain accurate and up to date purchase ledger records, ensuring invoices and accounts payable information are processed correctly.
    • Reconcile supplier statements against internal records and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Monitor the Goods Received Not Invoiced account, following up outstanding purchase orders, receipts and unmatched invoices.
    • Process supplier payments accurately and within agreed deadlines.
    • Respond to purchase ledger and supplier queries, working closely with internal departments and external contacts to resolve issues.
    • Produce regular finance reports, including weekly and monthly reporting for management.
    • Provide general administrative support to the finance team, including handling incoming calls and responding to routine finance-related enquiries.
    • Assist with other finance and administrative activities as required.

The candidate:

    • Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable or a similar finance role is required.
    • A good understanding of the purchase-to-pay process, including purchase order matching and supplier statement reconciliation.
    • AAT qualification or current AAT study, ideally at Level 2 or above, is desirable.
    • Experience using an ERP or cloud based accounting system
    • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial administration.
    • Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a busy environment.
    • The ability to work accurately within a high volume, largely paperless finance environment.
