Job Title: Quality Manager

Location: Uckfield, East Sussex (On Site)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (some flexibility available)
Salary: Depending on experience

The Role

HRGO Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in East Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional to take ownership of the site's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and compliance are consistently achieved.

Working closely with senior management, you will lead the day-to-day quality function, oversee internal and external audits, manage customer relationships, and drive continuous improvement across all quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and continuously improving the site's Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Maintaining compliance with BRCGS, RSPO, retailer standards, and other relevant quality certifications

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the Quality department

  • Investigating customer complaints and providing timely responses

  • Managing internal quality and hygiene audits

  • Reviewing and maintaining product specifications

  • Investigating non-conformances and implementing effective corrective actions

  • Delivering quality and food safety training to production and office teams where required

  • Coordinating and hosting customer visits and external audits

  • Producing monthly quality reports, trend analysis, and presenting findings to senior management

  • Ensuring scheduled environmental swabbing and product testing programmes are completed and compliant

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Quality Manager or within a senior technical role in food manufacturing

  • Strong understanding of food quality systems and standards, including BRCGS, RSPO, GMP, and HACCP

  • Experience hosting external audits and working with retailer standards

  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Friendly, flexible, and reliable with a proactive approach to problem solving

Desirable Experience

  • Level 3 HACCP qualification

  • Level 3 Food Safety qualification

  • Previous experience within a co-packing or food manufacturing environment
