Senior Quality Inspector

We're seeking an experienced Senior Quality Inspector to join a precision engineering/manufacturing environment. This hands‑on role oversees inspection activity, ensures product quality, and supports continuous improvement across production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily inspection activities including first‑off, in‑process, and final inspections.
  • Carry out fine limit sheet metal inspection using a range of measuring equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
  • Maintain inspection records, non‑conformance reports and inspection plans.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and support resource planning on the shop floor.
  • Work within ISO 9001 standards and assist with audits.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure measuring equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Provide clear quality reports to production and management teams.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Strong fine limit sheet metal inspection experience.
  • Proven background in senior/lead inspection roles.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficient with manual inspection tools; CMM experience beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Experience coaching or guiding small teams.

Desirable

  • Formal quality/inspection qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.).
  • Knowledge of SPC or quality software systems.
