HRGO Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established local business for a full-time, permanent Site Maintenance & Operations Operative. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional with a practical, hands-on approach to join a growing business and take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, safety and presentation of the site.


Salary: £28,000 per year
Hours: Full-time - rotating 4 on 4 off and 5 on 3 off shift pattern, including some weekend working

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site

  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently

  • Maintain buildings, fencing, gates, hard standing, drainage and external areas

  • Carry out general building repairs, carpentry and painting

  • Maintain the appearance, cleanliness and presentation of the site

  • Operate and maintain tools and maintenance equipment safely

  • Complete regular site inspections and identify maintenance requirements

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection logs

  • Assist with contractor supervision and site inductions

  • Support routine testing and compliance checks

  • Assist with opening and closing the site

  • Support access control procedures

  • Monitor and report security concerns

  • Assist with CCTV checks and routine security inspections

  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues that could affect site security or customer safety

  • Work closely with the wider team to resolve maintenance requests

  • Support colleagues with general operational activities when required

  • Represent the business professionally when dealing with customers and contractors

About You:

  • Proven experience in property maintenance, facilities maintenance, building maintenance or site maintenance

  • Experience carrying out a range of general maintenance and repair work

  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills

  • Good understanding of health and safety practices

  • Confident using power tools and maintenance equipment

  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload

  • Reliable, trustworthy and self-motivated

  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify issues before they become problems

  • Good communication skills

  • Flexible and willing to support the wider team

  • Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern, including some weekends

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Right to work in the UK

Essential Skills:

  • General building maintenance

  • Carpentry and joinery repairs

  • Basic plumbing repairs

  • Basic electrical maintenance

  • Painting and decorating

  • Fence and gate repairs

  • Grounds maintenance

  • Use of power tools and maintenance equipment

  • Basic fault-finding and problem-solving

Previous experience within a secure site, facilities, property maintenance or similar environment would be advantageous. Trade qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent would also be beneficial.
