A specialist engineering manufacturer is looking for a Technical Procurement Engineer to take ownership of the technical specification and procurement of mechanical, pneumatic and instrumentation equipment and components used in the build of high-quality automated processing systems for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and research environments.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where you'll work closely with Design Engineers, Project Management, QA and suppliers, ensuring parts are correctly specified, cost-effective, compliant, and delivered on time.

What you'll be doing

  • Create detailed technical specifications for mechanical, pneumatic and instrumentation components.
  • Review project requirements and produce technical plans and supporting documentation.
  • Issue drawings/specifications to suppliers for quotation and purchase.
  • Negotiate price and lead times and manage the full PO lifecycle (order acknowledgements, invoice checks, expediting/chasing deliveries).
  • Manage import/export requirements where needed.
  • Ensure all project items are ordered and delivered to plan.
  • Monitor factory stock levels and replenish to agreed minimums.
  • Track supplier performance and feed back to QA/management.
  • Coordinate logistics from small parcels through to delivery of complete systems.
  • Support factory activity coordination (e.g., weld tests/procedures, third-party inspections) alongside QA.
  • Procure factory consumables/plant as required.
  • Work in line with the company's Quality/Integrated Management Systems, H&S and environmental policies.

What we're looking for

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent technical qualification/experience).
  • Proven experience in technical procurement and producing clear specifications / documentation.
  • Strong supplier management skills: negotiation, PO management, delivery control and expediting.
  • Comfortable in a quality-focused environment, with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

Why apply

  • £45,000 per annum basic salary
  • Permanent, full-time position with stability and ownership
  • Free onsite parking + excellent commuter access via M11 (Stansted junction)
  • Varied, cross-functional role combining engineering detail with commercial procurement

To apply: Send your CV (and ideally a short note on your relevant procurement/specification experience and notice period).
