We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead and optimise a busy transport operation. The successful candidate will have strong experience in transport management and logistics, with proven expertise handling import processes and cross-border shipments. This role requires exceptional organisational skills, commercial awareness and the ability to manage a busy operational team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day transport operations, including planning, scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and drivers.
  • Oversee fleet performance, maintenance planning and vehicle compliance.
  • Develop and implement efficient routing and load-planning strategies to maximise utilisation and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, health & safety requirements and company policies.
  • Manage budgets, cost control and performance KPIs; prepare operational reports and action plans.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of drivers, schedulers and transport coordinators.
  • Coordinate with warehousing, procurement and customer service to ensure seamless supply chain flow.
  • Manage import processes: prepare and review import documentation, liaise with customs brokers and freight forwarders, ensure adherence to customs regulations and incoterms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Implement and optimise transport management systems (TMS) and other logistics IT tools.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in transport management and logistics, with demonstrable success in operational leadership.
  • Practical experience handling imports, customs documentation and cross-border logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of transport regulations, compliance and best practices.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Effective leadership and people-management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with transport management systems, MS Office and data-driven performance monitoring.


Desirable

  • Relevant transport or logistics qualifications/certifications.
  • Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers and international carriers.
  • Background in cost control, tendering and supplier negotiation.
