Workshop HGV Technician (Widnes - Days)

Salary: £22.00 per hour (paid every 4 weeks) + overtime rate

Days: 4 on 4 off (Days) - 06:00-18:00 (12-hour shift with 30-minute unpaid lunch) + overtime opportunities

ABOUT THE ROLE

HRGO is recruiting on behalf of our client who is an established commercial vehicle maintenance provider. We are recruiting an experienced Workshop HGV Technician to join their day shift team based in Widnes. This is a workshop-based position working on a mixed fleet of trucks, vans and trailers, completing inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs-ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across a mixed fleet of trucks, vans and trailers
  • Complete routine inspections and safety checks
  • Diagnose faults and rectify running defects (mechanical/electrical as required)
  • MOT preparation and presentation
  • Accurately complete job cards, service sheets and associated paperwork using online systems
  • Maintain workshop housekeeping and safe working practices at all times
  • Work to company procedures, manufacturer standards and health & safety requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in HGV Mechanics / Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (essential)
  • Previous HGV Technician experience with strong fault-finding skills (essential)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment (essential)
  • Strong commitment to health & safety (essential)
  • Good communication skills and a reliable, team-focused approach
  • Functional IT skills / confidence using online job systems (beneficial)
  • HGV Class 1 licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualified experience (preferred)
